What is this movie's title?

I remember a long time ago seeing a trailer for a movie, I think it
was a 90's movie. In the movie you see this kid (15 - 20) messing
around with an old cv radio and some how what he says travels to the
past to the same radio, and on the receiving end is his dad. There is
one part where the dad is carving in the desk were the radio is at in
the past, and the kid sees the carving in his time.
